Control: fotografía, sonido, actuaciones y acento inglés - this movie rocks!

"I wish I were a Warhol silk screen
hanging on the wall!
Or little Joe or maybe Lou.
I'd love to be them all.
All New York city's broken hearts
and secrets would be mine.
I'd put you on a movie reel
and that would be just fine."

Atmosphere y Love Will Tear Us Apart de Joy Division

SCENE 8 – MOONLIGHT CLUB, LONDON
INT. MOONLIGHT CLUB/STAGE POV – NIGHT

A smoky, sweaty nightclub, full of the rafters. We look out from the stage at the crowd, or what we can see of them (we are IAN's POV – but not yet revealed). The camera moves jerkily when we see images, periodically closing and opening.

SCROLL UP: "The Moonlight Club, London, 5 April, 1980"

IAN (O.S.)
(singing)
To the centre of the city where all roads meet, waiting for you –

CAMERA POV: Mostly young males, cool looking – perry hair flicks, dressed new-wave semi-ska clothes – shuffling and bouncing (rather than banging) their heads to the beat. Eyelines fixed straight down the lens – hypnotized.

-

IAN (O.S.)
(singing)
To the depths of the ocean where all hopes sank, searching for you –

CAMERA POV: swings to the edges of the crowd where ANNIK HONORE, a svelte, sophisticated Belgian girl (22) stands with a couple of HIGH FASHION FRIENDS. One of the FRIENDS tells her something down her ear, ANNIK breaks out into grin – nods enthusiastically – stares back with a serious look.

IAN (O.S.) (CONT'D)
(singing)
I was moving through the silence without motion, waiting for you –

ANNIK gives us a half smile – re-assuring.

IAN (O.S.) (CONT'D)
(singing)
In a room with a window in a corner I found truth.

Izq. : Sam Riley, James Anthony Pearson, Harry Treadaway y Joe Anderson interpretan a los miembros de la banda Joy Division que encabezó Ian Curtis

CAMERA POV: jerks to the right revealing BERNARD SUMMER (24) the lead guitarist as he hits a mini solo – cute, schoolboy – esque, wearing a smart tie and short-sleeved shirt, pegs, hair washed and parted. He never takes his eyes of his hands/strings. Pan off stage-right, reveal ROB GRETTON (27), the manager, fag in mouth, tall and burl, thick rimmed spectacles, intelligent hard-nut. He enthusiastically taps his foot on an amp – these are his boys.

CAMERA POV: swings to the other side of the stage – hits the bass player, HOOKY (24), back to the crowd, ash-blond cropped hair, carefully trimmed beard, legs astride, low slung guitar over his crotch – like he's fucking it, hard. Pan stage-left to see TERRY and TWINNY, the roadies, concern etched all over their faces. TERRY mouths "are you OK?" The camera nods once before quickly swinging round to the drummer, STEVE (22), drenched in sweat, his hands, face and body convulsed and contorted into sticking the beat.
